Mission & Vision

Curiosity has always been my engine. The deep, core need to know everything, to connect the dots and understand what otherwise can seem like magic falling from the sky.

The crystal-clear approach of science has always been my guiding force, providing clarity, structure and control, and satisfying my hunger for knowing everything.

I have always observed the finally-maybe-not-so-magical phenomenons through a scientific lens and projected them through my art.

That is my way of translating that understanding into something tangible, boiling things down to pure beauty and raw emotion, to the magic of the real.

But reality often feels crushing. Creating gives me the freedom to pause from the overwhelming realities of life—rush, disconnection, obsession with quantity over quality, financial stress, climate change, conflicts and wars.

Too much. Too bad.

My embroidered art is a refuge from the chaos of the world—a space where I can pause from the noise of daily life.

My art is my happy place, my humble contribution to counteract this negative force field and add some light, something good, positive and beautiful to the world.

It’s where I can keep learning the infinite whys and still feeling awed by how the universe is shaped.

Where I can stop for a fraction of a second from the society’s imposed constraints that don’t allow to pause and admire what is really important.

Perspective. Meaning.

Gazing up at the sky feels like pressing pause.

It’s my way to pause and ask myself deeper questions, to free myself from the rushing, blinded society.

It shows me something bigger that ourselves. It shows me perspective. Patience. Trust. Energy to keep going. A reason to fight for. A creative force that brings back hope and freedom.

Creating is my way of sharing the magic I see through my scientific lens with you, looking at the simplest things around and seeing how they can be incredible in a hundred different ways. If only we dared to pause to admire them.

Through my work, I offer a breath of fresh air, a drop of freedom, a reminder of what truly matters.

For me, knowing the science is knowing the magic.

And my art is my lasting-value gift of magic and freedom to you.

About

Hi! I’m Laura S. Urbina, a Spanish aerospace engineer PhD turned into an embroidery entrepreneur living in the south of France.

Since I’ve always loved science as much as art, becoming either an engineer or an artist was an evidence for me. I chose the secure path of science. Loved it during college: continuous learning, figuring out how things worked. Hard as hell, but yet, I loved it.

Despite how amazing the engineering world seemed to me, the reality I experienced after my studies was not as I expected. At all.

Soon, the lack of that creative spark that moves my engine was a heavy weight. The life I was living was not aligned to my core values.

It took courage to change my trajectory and align it to who I really am. I chose to live a meaningful life that I won’t regret. That’s how I became an entrepreneur.

After my training in embroidery art at École Lesage (Paris) and Studio Eyral, I created my own studio-lab, Delta V Creations.

My scientific vision of the world is conveyed through the sensitivity and accuracy of embroidery, strongly marked by its geometric power. A sharing of the hidden beauty that can be found when we take the time to observe the almost-magical workings behind everything that surrounds us.

Sharing what I know is one of my core values. That’s why I create some embroidery educational content as well.

Through my educational content I help people who are feeling overwhelmed by the society’s imposed speed and weight over their shoulders to gain back perspective and meaning.

Embroidery can be incredibly meditative. A way to press pause to breathe and take back what it matters most. An oxygen bubble of freedom where they can express themselves through the delicate art of embroidery.

The Delta V studio

Delta V Creations is the name of my embroidery studio (or laboratory, as I affectionately call it).

The term “Delta V” comes from the aerospace field, and it is represented mathematically as ∆v. A delta-v is the total change in velocity of a body, a manoeuvre that allows a satellite to move from one orbit to another, to change its trajectory.

Delta V represents also my own change of trajectory, from the aerospace field to the artistic universe. It’s my own Delta V manoeuvre to align my life to my core values.

But it doesn’t end there. That energy boost expands to your own lives after getting one of my creations. You’ve made me such amazing feedback that I’ve called it the “wow! effect”: a boost of energy so powerful that makes you feel amazing from within and it just shines outwards.

That exact feeling is what I call a Delta V.

Your Delta V.

Artistic approach

Unleashing the creative power through a perfectly controlled process.

Each new piece has a clearly defined trajectory: I start with an image, a material, an idea or a theme that inspires me, often related to science.

In all my creations I aim for balance and visual harmony, for a naturally pleasing “wow” effect. That’s why my artworks are powerfully marked by geometry.

An initial freehand sketch enables me to define the visual balance of my new piece: the overall proportions and the placement of my main elements (the hero of the creation).

The harmony of my composition is achieved through the arrangement of all these elements within the proportions of the golden ratio (also known as the phi number), naturally present in nature.

Once my sketch is finished, I digitise it, so my embroidery design is accurate to the millimeter.

The choice of colors is one of the key stages in my approach, because the visual harmony of my creations also depends on a balanced choice of colors. As far as possible, I try to add a little touch of golden to all my creations, as a tribute to the golden ratio.

The final stage is the pure embroidery phase, readjusting colors or materials intuitively. And that’s when the magic happens: a new creation comes to life from my studio-laboratory with a guaranteed “wow! effect”.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each creation is produced entirely in the workshop, from conceptualisation to manufacture.

Each piece is made and embroidered entirely by hand, using either my own experimental techniques or the classic Haute Couture embroidery techniques (needlework and Lunéville hook).

The mastery of these traditional embroidery techniques ensures that each piece is impeccably finished, for creations that are stronger and last longer. A guarantee of excellence à la française.

I was trained at the prestigious École Lesage in Paris, where I learned the true meaning of Haute Couture, the precision of gestures and the elegance.

I also trained at Studio Eyral, a real creative catalyst, where Marylène encouraged me to experiment, test and create my own artistic universe.
