Created for C, a historian with a lifelong passion for historical textiles, Adhara was conceived as a bespoke embroidered panel for her wedding dress, a piece designed to hold the stories, memories and women who have shaped her life.
Its botanical motifs were chosen for the deeply personal meanings they carry, then brought together in a composition inspired by historical stomachers. At the bottom, thistles form its roots, evoking resilience, strength and the courage to break with the past. Roses bloom at its heart, representing C.’s present: love, strength and the life she has chosen to build. Olive leaves surround the composition like a gentle embrace, carrying ideas of peace, renewal and hope. And at the top, lily of the valley rises towards the future, a delicate nod to a childhood memory of her grandmother, and of the cakes they once decorated together.
Designed entirely from scratch and hand-embroidered on skin-toned illusion tulle, Adhara combines ivory, ecru, silver and rose-gold haute couture threads with delicate beads, sequins and silk ribbon. The result is richly textured yet light, allowing the embroidery to become part of the dress while retaining the delicate quality of a second skin.
Designed and hand-embroidered in France to be applied to a bespoke bridal gown, Adhara is more than a piece of embroidery: it is a way of carrying a personal history into a new chapter. The women, memories and experiences that came before remain woven into the story, while the bride steps forward to write what comes next.
